Welcome to Child’s Heart Daycare.

What I offer to you and your child is much more than childcare. I offer an extended family…a support system that nurtures ALL of us.

In my program, I use a Maryland State Department of Education Approved Creative Curriculum for Preschool. It’s philosophy is that children should be allowed to grow at their own pace and learn in ways that help them become confident in themselves as learners. The curriculum has two goals:

  • To help children learn about themselves and the world around them; and

  • To encourage children to feel good about themselves and become capable learners.

These goals guide everything I do in my classroom.

For example, I have organized my classroom to make it a safe place for children to explore and learn. The children’s toys and learning materials have been placed on child friendly shelves. This makes it easy for the children to find and play with toys they like. It helps them learn to make choices and be independent.

When you visit, you will notice that we have a schedule that we follow. This lets the children know what comes when. It helps them feel secure when they know that everyday I will read to them before nap time or after a snack we go outside. This schedule also allows for times when we will do things together, such as music and story time, and times when the children are doing things on their own, such as dramatic play or block play.

Many activities have been planned for the children. This allows children to learn new things and feel good about what they do. I encourage children to do things on their own and to be curious and interested in all that’s going on around them. I talk to them, ask questions and answer their questions to help them learn new words and to express their ideas and feelings.

Educational

My educational philosophy centers around the child. The early learning years are the most formative. During theses years, children have a great capacity for learning about the world around them and adapting to it successfully. I recognize that a nurturing, loving relationship between children and adults makes a difference in a child’s development.

The learning process is fostered through respect for each child as a unique individual, with a great potential to grow, learn, and succeed. I am committed to helping each child develop a positive self-concept, cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically.

Recognizing parents as their child’s first teacher, I work with families to create an active and comfortable setting for learning.

**Once enrolled children participate in a variety of individual and group activites  designed to develop language and reading skills, enhancing physical, social and emotional growth, skills which will increase each child's ability to succeed in school and beyond.
